- Pictorial representation of numbers on board helps children to understand and remember the position of numbers. Most children can recite 1 to 100. But if you ask them to count in-between say 56 to 63, either there is a pause or they starting counting from one again.
- If children learn to count by placing discs on the hundred board. The number sense would be developed enough to know the position of 56 and subsequent numbers till 63. This clarity in understanding will help them to understand the relationship between numbers.
- Which one is bigger? Which number is smaller? The mental image of numbers in rows of tens enhances speed and accuracy in different ways of counting.
