Description
Why do students struggle with Geometry Concepts?
Concepts of geometry requires spatial understanding. Children find it difficult to develop this with concrete materials. Consequently, they learn theories by rote and move to next chapter. Children learn the formula of area and perimeter and lean how to get answer. But there spatial understanding is not developed enough to discover the formula of area and perimeter.
How does Geo Board help us?
Children makes square & rectangle on Geo board with rubber bands. They count the boundary to discover perimeter and squares inside the boundary to get the area. Using manipulatives, such as Geo Board, can help students connect the abstract with more concrete representations They also learn to represent the transformation of shapes i.e. translation, rotation, reflection. Different activities with beads help children to understand the concept of direction. Plotting of graphs on Geo bard makes learning fun and enriching.
