Description

CHALLENGES IN LEARNING CONCEPTS RELATED TO CIRCLE:

Student know about the circle but majority of them are not sure about the terms of circle parts, like chord, tangent, radius, diameter, secant, segment etc. Reading about them helps in knowing but in dept understanding is not developed. Students need to make and see the different parts of circle. Verify the theorem. Discover how theorem of circle are related to quadrilateral.

WHY TANGENT GEOBOARD.?

Tangent geoboard has holes to fit the pins and rubber band to stretch from one point to other. Student can create different geometric shapes to explore, discover and prove the theorems. Differentiate between the chord and tangent, Radii and Diameter by stretching the rubber band inside and outside of the circle. Student can measure and see that radii rubber band is half of the diameter rubber band of the circle. Similarly, students with tangent geo board can construct different kinds of tangents, secants and segments and discover the theorems.
