School in the Changing Times
School in the Changing Times
The Industrial revolution gave birth to Public School. Similar to factories, schools were set up in each locality. They were like factories divided into different sections and the method of teaching was lecture. Times have changed. Now it’s a time for the Internet Revolution and Online School is a reality. Parents can enroll their children and kids’ can attend classes from the comfort of their home.
If “Work from Home” is possible for offices and factories. Why not Homeschooling? It’s a great solution for children who do not have access to good school in their locality. It’s an absolute necessity for children who are from travelling families. Change in their location doesn’t impact their studies. Parents can enroll their students in an online school and continue changing their job location.
Children who are fast or slow learners find school to be too boring. In a public school, there are 40 to 50 students, but the method and pace of teaching is the same. It’s not suitable for each child. Fast learners get bored as they find the teaching to be repetitive. Slow learners are unable to catch up. Consequently, they don’t understand.
These issues are easily addressed in Vikalp Online school where there are only 4 to 5 students. Teachers can pay individual attention to each child. They can devise lesson plans according to each child. Since the method of teaching is activity based, children Do and learn at their own pace. Teachers don’t lecture, they facilitate learning.
This method of teaching is particularly suitable for children with learning disabilities like Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia etc. They are kinesthetic learners; they learn only by doing. Normal lecture method of schools does not work for them as they cannot learn by SEEING or HEARING. They need to DO. When they Do activities, their learning disorders like inability to speak, concentrate, or follow instructions disappears.
It’s a completely different story in a Public School. Here they become the subject of ridicule and bullying. Learning becomes an ordeal. In our Online School children do activities and learn on their own at their own pace. They learn with other normal children and enjoy their classes. Our education is totally inclusive. We do not segregate children with special needs. Our effort is unleashing the full potential of each child.
