How to Compare 3-, 6- and 9-Month Online School Subscriptions
Compare an online school subscription by its total cost, teaching schedule, included resources and terms. Duration matters, but it does not tell you how many classes your child receives, which materials arrive at home or what happens if your plans change.
Vikalp’s programme pages for Nursery through Class 8 currently show 3-, 6- and 9-month subscription cards. Classes 9–12 use CBSE and NIOS pathway cards, with choices shown on the linked products. Start with your child’s class, then check the specific product rather than assuming that every programme has identical inclusions.

First, identify your online school subscription period
Write down the intended start date and the period for which you need teaching support. Consider any planned move, travel or timetable change. Ask how the subscription dates relate to the school’s teaching calendar and what happens during holidays.
A three-month purchase should not automatically be treated as a free trial or a refundable trial. A nine-month card should not automatically be treated as twelve calendar months. Confirm the meaning of each duration before comparing prices.
What Vikalp’s subscription cards show
On the Class 1 programme page, the cards describe the following kit quantities:
| Subscription card | DIY activity kits listed |
|---|---|
| 3 months | 1 kit |
| 6 months | 2 kits |
| 9 months | 3 kits |
The cards also list books or workbooks, digital resources and attention during live online classes. These are programme-page descriptions checked on 22 October 2026. Confirm the current product details, delivery schedule and selected teaching format with Vikalp before paying.
The nine-month Class 1 card links to the Grade 1 Classes product. Its name differs from the duration printed on the card. Following the actual product link helps you avoid comparing an unrelated item or assuming a missing “nine-month” product URL.
Ask for the teaching schedule
For each option, record the number of live sessions, their length, subject coverage and the normal weekly timetable. Check whether the subscription is for a group or individual format and whether the displayed price changes with that choice.
Ask how a missed class is handled. Find out whether a replacement session, recording or another form of support is available under the selected plan. Treat these as questions to confirm rather than benefits to assume.
Compare the full online school subscription cost
Use the same basis for every option:
Total payable cost = teaching subscription + separately charged materials + delivery + applicable taxes or other confirmed charges.
Some of these items may already be included. Ask for a written breakdown so you do not count them twice. For board-related programmes, establish whether registration, examinations and practical requirements involve separate payments or arrangements.
If you want a monthly comparison, divide the confirmed total by the number of months covered. Label that result “equivalent monthly cost”. It does not establish a monthly payment facility, cancellation right or renewal price.

Fill this using the selected product and written confirmation from the team. A website price range may combine several variations, so its lowest value may belong to a different duration or class format.
Consider the family’s practical commitment
A longer subscription may reduce how often you need to renew, but it also commits you for a longer period. Check whether the timetable works, whether materials can reach your address and how much adult support your child will need.
If you are still assessing the teaching approach, arrange a conversation or demo first. Observe the lesson and ask about the arrangements that matter to your family. Do not rely on a duration label to answer those questions.
Keep board registration separate from teaching support
For secondary and senior-secondary programmes, ask who handles school or board enrolment, which documents are required and how examinations are arranged. A teaching subscription and an examination registration serve different purposes. Confirm both before choosing a pathway.

Common questions
Does a nine-month subscription always cost less per month?
Check the current selected options. The duration alone does not establish a discount, and a price range can include several formats.
Are all learning kits delivered together?
Ask the team about the delivery schedule for your programme and address. Do not assume that the number of kits tells you when they arrive.
Can I change the duration after enrolling?
Confirm the applicable change, cancellation and renewal terms before purchase. Keep the written terms with your order details.
Before sharing your child’s details with a learning platform, ask about privacy settings, recordings and account access. UNICEF’s online safety guidance for families can help you prepare those questions.
